Although most nativity scenes show the three “wise men” or “magi” visiting the baby Jesus, they were most probably not there. The Christian feast, known as Epiphany, or Three Kings’ Day, has traditionally celebrated the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ.
At the end of that hour, I was just sitting there thinking, “God, you do all of this and it is nothing for you. Just one word from you and everything this man said would be done.”
I am not going to be talking about how to give, or about how much to give. Today, I simply want to answer WHY you should give.
If you want to discover what God has put you on this planet to do, start serving!
Take nothing away from the emotion of that moment. An army which was all but lost in this war…a war which reduced many of their homes to rubble, destroyed families, pitted brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor…
Because we have been focusing on Gospel conversations all this month, I have spent a lot of time truly contemplating what the Gospel is and what it means. John Piper used an analogy that really hit home to me: Too many people see the Gospel as a vaccine when it is more like dialysis.
Let me encourage each of us to look through the partial list of ministries below and consider how we are personally fulfilling the vision of our church and God’s calling in our lives.
