Here we are again. It is time to look at another song that will hopefully help you tune your heart to sing His praise. This song is fairly simple but has some deeply Biblical lyrics. There are a few versions out there, so I will provide a couple links at the end. As always my thoughts will be in bold under each line of the song (though in this song it is the scriptures that show that the lyrics speak truth).
SONG: Build My Life
Worthy of ev’ry song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe
(Psalm 145:3 “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”)
We live for You
(1 Thessalonians 4:1 “we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God”)
Jesus the name above ev’ry other name
(Philippians 2:9 “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name”)
Jesus the only one who could ever save
(Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”)
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
(1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
Open up my eyes in wonder
(Psalm 119:18 “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”)
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
(Ezekiel 36:26 “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.”)
And lead me in Your love to those around me
(Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us…”)
I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
(Matthew 7:24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
(Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”)
Every version I have heard of this song is beautifully congregational. I think that is why I am drawn to this song. Even the versions below are both “live” versions because hearing the people of God sing these words is amazing!
Here is my favorite version of the song:
