Young at Heart

Senior Adult Ministry

Young at heart. We have the best of all worlds. The experience of years and the time to have fun with it. Our Young at Heart group is filled with people who have the “vitality of youth“.  A man once said:  “just because there’s snow on the roof, don’t think the fire has gone out in the furnace.”  Our zeal for life is contagious the moment you join us, because you’ll see the joy we have in coming together.

We meet once a month from Fall to Summer, usually the second Thursday of each month at 11a. There’s nothing better than a fresh and delicious meal – unless it is friends to enjoy it with. We share ideas, share solutions, and from time to time share remedies for a strained muscle or a sore back. And we add to these meals a featured speaker that provides helpful information of special interest to us.

Each person in attendance is given the latest issue of a wonderful magazine with all kinds of great, helpful and interesting articles. It is called “Mature Living”.

We form friendships, gain a golfing buddy or a shopping friend, and learn a little bit along the way.  We also share a perspective about life – eternal life that is – and how we must know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, when we leave this earth.  You will find that some have walked through some difficult paths – but you will be surrounded by many who understand.  When an unexpected illness or injury puts one out of commission for a while, those in “Young At Heart” provide the help needed, whether it be physical, financial, or spiritual.

We also volunteer our time and talents to other ministries in the church or outside organizations, such as helping repair a home, wire a lamp, or gently rock an infant in our church nursery (ever notice how good those babies smell – most of the time).  As we get to know one another, we’re finding that even in our mature years, it’s never too late to launch out into a new career – like acting!

The time we spend in prayer and studying God’s Word draws us to a unique time of blessing.  We begin with a laugh and end on that same note – but it’s something to think about. So, if you’d like to join us for food, fellowship and fun, we’d love to have you.

Connecting with God, Connecting with Others, Connecting Others with God

At Swift Creek we are all about making connections. The most important connection is the one we can have with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Once that connection is established we want to make connections in our homes and with the rest of the church family. A strong church is built by people of strong faith and individual homes where God is worshiped and honored. Read More...
