The focus of Swift Creek Students is to see students joyfully follow Jesus.
From 6th-12th grade, students go through major life changes. Their mind, body, emotions, and desires are being changed and transformed. Through all the changes, we want students’ lives to be changed by Jesus through the gospel.
Jesus’ call to every student of every age is “follow me.” (Matt. 4:19; Luke 9:23) In order to obey the call to follow Jesus, our student ministry centers everything we do around the mission of SCBC. As students follow Jesus, they are: Connecting with God (Mark 12:30), Connecting with others (Mark 12:31), Connecting others with God. (Matt 28:19-20)
No matter what age each student enters the ministry, the goal for them is the same: to be joyfully following Jesus as they exit student ministry and step into adulthood. For this to take place, their discipleship journey will be centered around these core foundations during middle and high school.
Middle School Follower foundations:
- Knowing the gospel (1 Cor 15:3-4; Rom 1:16)
- Training for godliness (1 Tim 4:7; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)
- Building christian friendships (Rom 1:12; Prov 13:20)
High School Follower foundations:
- Forming a biblical worldview (Rom 12:2)
- Leading by serving (Mark 10:43-45)
- Making disciples (Matt 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)
Partnered with Parents and Families
We believe that God has designed the family as the primary place where students must be discipled to follow Jesus. Therefore, our goal is to equip parents to be the primary disciple-maker of their home. The ultimate aim is that their teenager will grow up into adulthood joyfully following Christ, so that they will leverage the rest of their life for God’s glory by taking the gospel of Christ to their neighborhoods and to the nations (Eph. 6:4, Dt. 6:4-9, Eph. 4:13).

Students will commit for one year to serve on this team and attend meetings once a month with Pastor Mark. A full list of expectations is listed in the application Info Sheet.
