About

Our goal: For every student to glorify God as we GATHER, GROW, GIVE, AND GO.

Who are we?  We affectionately call ourselves, “The Creekers.” We are a gospel-centered, Word-driven, disciple-making student ministry. This means that our focus is on the gospel over games. On discipleship over entertainment. On holiness over hype. It doesn’t mean we don’t have fun, because we do! It means that our events, activities, worship services, and youth trips are all centered on the gospel, driven by the exposition of God’s Word, and aimed at making disciples. We also have a lot of fun along the way.  We’d love for you to join us!

What can I expect? Come as you are! You don’t have to dress up fancy and you won’t be asked to introduce yourself in front of the group. When students walk through the door of our Refuge Student Building, they will be greeted by a friendly teenager or adult leader ready to help them get connected. Come grab a snack at our café, relax on the couch, or play ping-ping until we start our gathering.

What do we care about most?  Around here we like to say, “Jesus is Better.” It is our way to say that Christ is our greatest joy. He is supreme in our lives and in our church. Because Jesus is better, we GATHER for worship and community, we GROW together in discipleship, we GIVE ourselves in ministry, and we GO out with the gospel.

Gather

Wednesdays

Student Worship (Doors open 6pm, Worship 6:30-7:30pm, Social time until 8pm)

This is for all students. We will sing, pray, build relationships, and hear from God’s Word. This is a great night to visit or bring a friend. It is a casual environment while being an intentional night of worship.

SUNDAYS

Connect Groups meet Sundays from 9:30-10:45a in the Refuge Student Building
Students meet in the Refuge, then break into classes based on age/gender.

Grow

A key way our students GROW together in discipleship happens in our student D-Groups.

Interested in Joining a D-Group? A D-Group is a discipleship group of 3-6 same-gender students who meet together regularly for Bible study, encouragement, and accountability. They are led by our high school students who are on our student leadership team. They meet off campus at various times during the month.

Give

There are plenty of opportunities for students to give themselves in ministry. Whether it is serving at an event with our kids ministry, serving with preschool childcare, or being a greeter on our church First Impressions Team, students have plenty of opportunity to GIVE themselves in ministry to SCBC.

Ask Pastor Mark about opportunities to serve.

Go

We seek to obey the Great Commission to GO and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).

Connect Group Mission Projects:  Our connect groups are responsible for planning and executing their own local missions project. These happen at various times during the year with the goal of reaching our neighbors with the love of Christ.

LOVE RVA: These are local mission projects during the year to reach our community with the love of Christ. Opportunities include serving with local church partners and ministries.
