“Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.” – Psalm 119:9
I love the Bible. I love the words. I love the crunchy pages. I love covering those pages with the ink of my blue and red pen in the morning. I love the way the leather binding fits in my hand when I hold it. I love jotting down simple and profound realities that Christ gives to my heart. I love how it exposes my sin and reveals my sweet daily medicine of the gospel.
God wrote this Book. It is his very word. And it gives life to my soul. I don’t know what I would do without it. One time when I was a senior in college, I thought I had lost my Bible of four years, and literally started weeping at the thought of losing the years of memories I had accumulated while sitting together with God. Praise God, I did find it and it was not lost. God’s Word is precious to me.
One of my heroes of the faith, Pastor John Piper (whom our daughter, Piper, is named after) made this video several years ago and I still come back to it periodically. I wanted to share it with you. I pray that it ignites your love for the Word of Christ, a love that keeps you coming back to feast on the best meal your heart can enjoy.
“So will I read my Bible tomorrow? Where else will I go? How else will I know him? How else will I prepare myself to enjoy God forever? Yes. I’ll spend the rest of my life looking out this window watching, waiting for another site of him. Another miracle. Another glimpse of my God.” – John Piper
