Young Adult Ministry
The Young Adult Ministry works toward developing an
attitude that places those within the ministry on a life
long journey to be like Jesus Christ, our Lord and
Savior. Emphasis in teaching and lesson planning is
placed on the life long journey being one that is
difficult to follow as we live in a world of sin and
temptations. That it is important to understand the
balance and relationship between God's sovereignty and
man's responsibility is a never-ending challenge in our
life. Yet, through the Holy Spirit, for He is God, each
one of us has the power to balance our relationship with
Jesus Christ. Power is received by the filling of the
Holy Spirit.
We challenge one another that we all can have a touch of greatness through leadership involving:
- Great Ambition
- Great Faith
- Great Prayer
The idea being, you never become truly spiritual by
sitting down and wishing to become so. You must
undertake something so great that you cannot accomplish
it unaided. Life is about the journey we are on, in this
life and in the next life of salvation.
The Young Adult Ministry has a focus on:
- Sense of community
- Vision
- Mission
- To encourage, assist and lead by example those
we come in contact with
- Developing servant leadership
- Respecting people before we judge them
- Sharing the spotlight with others
- Making Christ the central focus and agenda
- Affirming and participating in kingdom agendas
- Developing many followers for the Lord.
We have grown in spiritual
growth and maturity. Attitudes and lives have been
changed supported by the witness and testimony's given
by ministry members. This ministry has grown to an
average Sunday school attendance of 12 to 14 people.
During the summer months Sunday school attendance has
reached as high as 14, 16 and 18 young adults. The Wednesday evening church activity has
grown to an average of 14 to 16 young adults in
attendance.
We are active in the community
working with the cancer patients, ages 4 to 14, at the
Medical College of Virginia on a monthly basis. We
also plan several trips annually to places including:
- The Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC
- Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland
- The National Aquarium and Orioles Baseball game
- Natural Chimney and Caverns/Shenandoah Valley
- Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello
- Science Museum in Richmond for the Titanic exhibit
The Young Adult Ministry has prayed together, "Oh,
that Your hand would be with me!" "For God is fair; he
will not forget the work you did and the love you showed
for him by helping his people" Hebrews 6:10.
God has listened to the young adult ministry and their prayer…..and He has blessed us, indeed!
