Young At Heart Ministry
Young at heart. We have the best of all worlds. The experience
of years and the time to have fun with it. Our Young at
Heart group is full of people who are just that – the
vitality of youth. I remember hearing a man say “just
because there’s snow on the roof, don’t think the fire
has gone out in the furnace.” Our zeal for life is easy
to see and we hope easy to catch.
We meet once a month from Fall to Summer. There’s
nothing better than a fresh and delicious meal – unless
it is friends to enjoy it with. We share ideas, share
solutions, and from time to time share remedies for a
strained muscle or a sore back. And we add to these
meals a featured speaker that provides helpful
information of special interest to us.
We form friendships, gain a golfing buddy or a shopping
friend, and learned a little bit along the way. And we
share a perspective about life – eternal life that is –
that can only occur as the years increase. Most of us
have walked through some difficult path or perhaps
several – and we’ve found others who understand. When an
unexpected illness or injury puts us out of commission
for a while, those in our group provide the help we
need. Better than that is the help we’re able to give to
others – I can’t tell you how good it feels to be on the
giving end.
And we have time. Time that is needed to provide our
unique talents to other groups. Some of us have helped
repair a home, or wire a lamp, or gently rock an infant
in our church nursery (ever notice how good those babies
smell – most of the time). And if you hunt around a
little bit, you’ll even find that in our mature years,
some of us have launched out into new careers – like
acting!
The time we spend in prayer and studying God’s Word
draws us to a unique time of blessing. I began with a
laugh and I’d like to end on that same note – but it’s
something to think about.
So if you’d like to join us for food, fellowship and
fun, we’d love to have you.
